I haven’t had a suit made in ages - too expensive and no longer relevant as all the big events are over and casual is now the word. My mother paid for my wedding suit which was ‘cut’ to some standard template that had no relationship to my body shape. Something went terribly wrong with the inside leg measurement and they forgot to ask me which side I ‘dressed’. My father-in-law, a former Saville Row tailor, stressed it’s the technique you pay for; in tailoring women’s slacks for instance you take the overall measurement and subtract the wet bit!
