Where do lost things go? Down the back of the sofa is a first port of call. But also under the bed offers fertile ground.
Spread on the carpet arms rarely seem long enough. So with some instrument perhaps a ruler or the barbecue tongs and a torch to throw some light on the situation there’s an outside chance of unearthing some long forgotten treasure; such as mother’s missing pearl earring rematched as a pair, a box of evocative old photos covered in dust or an heirloom edition of the Water Babies passed down from a dim and distant past.
