Monsieur Robert stepped onto the balcony at the crack of dawn and peered down at the young boy ringing the bell. They had never met but the foreign exchange student was expected.
The boy was still tingling with excitement after a night in a compartment with Sophie on a train across France to their destination in Cognac.
There had been an awkward simmering chemistry back in England. Inhibitions though were now readily cast aside in the darkened carriage as the train ploughed on through the night.
M. Robert had no idea that the youth below had just become a man.
