…I'm trying to recruit my mate to drabble
…But he is slow to join our rabble.
…With a reasonable turn of phrase
…His story lines amaze.
…Poetry’s not his strongest lot,
…A Betjeman or Shelley he is not.
…Whilst a sonnet has fourteen lines of prose,
…Drabbles are one hundred words of anything goes.
…My mate is quite conflicted
..As he hates to be so restricted.
..Nevertheless he will give it a whirl
..Because no one knows what might unfurl.
..The writing bug can be miraculously caught.
(A sonnet though, this is not, as tantalisingly, it's just one line short.)

Nice one... but you don't want to be caught short. :-)
