He says, “The line at the grocery is so long!”. He stands waiting behind, what appears to be, throngs of people ahead of him. His gray hair is showing off his reddening face. He is a man with authority in another life. Maybe a mortgage lender, a stockbroker or the like? He says, “All throughout history men have served themselves, and have been served first! I have been born into a country where we are greeted with equality. This is the misfortune that I must endure.”. I glance back at him, feeling empowered for I know more misery awaits him.

More misery sounds ominous! Hopefully the narrator has coupons, lots of change
and decides to have a few items deducted from the final total.
