It was love at first sight as they flew above the urban landscape looking for a home. They needed somewhere low and secure for their brood to protect them from the ravages of nature. They spotted a 1930’s semi with a mature garden of manicured conifer bushes.
For two weeks she built a traditional nest lined with mud for strength and grass for comfort. They took it in turns to incubate the three eggs keeping an eye out for marauding magpies.
The chicks quickly fledged leaving the blackbirds free to see off those predators and sing their song of triumph.

Well done Blackie Mum and Dad! Some of your relatives seem to nest round here too! Love them!
