Popular personalities are often economical with the truth and tell people what they want to hear and do not become undone when it changes as they easily adapt their stories. George always spoke truth.

It was difficult to take in his harsh South Yorkshire accent but it had to be said. People just had to know truth.

When he retired after fifty years down pit, where all the men spoke truth, he found everyday life difficult. His brother stopped speaking to him. Nobody at club would drink with him. Neighbours walked on the other side.

George became a lonely man.

The truth is clearly a dish best served in small portions.
