Snakes and ladders is such a fun game to play, easy to understand with simple rules with a known finishing line. Little Betsy was keen to play with her grandpop and her older sister, Nellie, but no matter how many times she shook the dice she could not shake a six to start. As grandpop and Nellie moved up the board she became more and more upset and she was tempted to throw the dice across the room.

When they played again grandpop changed the rules so that the players could start the game with any number and Betsy won.

I prosecute the dice! How dare it not let Betsy win

I love being grandad. Grandpop is my pseudonym for ironic purposes. Betsy and Nellie are two dogs I know who have their own pronouns.

It was an even Betsy that she would win then...

Nice. For some reason that game is known here in the USA as Chutes & Ladders. I guess they thought the snakes would scare the kids. A bit odd for a country that's known for selling guns on every street corner. But, life's a mystery.
