Nerves
He looked out of his kitchen window for the fifth time in as many minutes. Breathed in and out slowly. She should be here by now.
He looked at himself in the mirror – pale and sweating. She’d know something was up. Where was she?
He moved back to the kitchen before pacing back and forth. He needed to calm himself down or she would suspect. A task, something practical, with his hands. Anything to take his mind off what he was about to do. That’s it!
Go polish the ring again, make sure it sparkles when she sees it.
