Heat of the Night

The night sky was ablaze.

"We have to leave, We can't stay here!"

"Look at all the colors, its so pretty mommy!"

"Don't look, sweetie, please we must go!"

The air is thick and the glow on the horizon is rising, she could no longer wait. She scooped up his small body and ran from the light.

"Why must we run, it's so pretty?"

The heat was catching up. Her shadow began to grow in front of her.

"Can we please stop to rest?"
