Its eyes gleamed, while it scanned the room, as I prayed to remain unnoticed, huddled in the closet.
The floor creaked as it skulked about the room, searching for its quarry.
Peeking through the slits of the door, I cringed and held my breath as it moved toward my feeble refuge; if I was seen, I knew what would follow soon after.
Cold perspiration coated my body, each step bringing it closer. It grasped the doorknob, and pulled the door open with frightening speed.
"Daddy found you!" he exclaimed, tickling me. "Now I'll go hide, and you be the monster."
