The basement is empty; I looked when I came down, but It's in the back corner, I can feel it; crouching, waiting for its chance to pounce.
I quickly put the laundry in the washer and with a furtive glance, begin to head for the stairs.
It's moving, I know it!
The stairs stretch out, the door shrinks with distance.
I'm halfway up and It has reached the base; It won't let me escape this time.
My heart races as I reach the top; It's right behind me.
I close the door, and shut the light.
I'm safe; this time.
