Alice twirled her parasol as she skipped down the cobbled street in her stiletto heeled Mary Janes. She hummed a merry tune as the residents of Innsmouth stirred from their slumber.
“Here, fishy fishy!”
Rotting front doors opened and hybrids emerged.
A magical twist of Alice’s parasol transformed the light umbrella into an air-cooled, belt-fed, 7.62mm caliber, M60 general-purpose machine gun. An indiscriminate 360° arc of killing firepower tore waves of rushing amphibious horrors to chummy shreds.
Beyond Devil Reef, Dagon burst through the water. Alice loaded another ammo belt into the M60.
“Let’s rock, fish face.”

Great drabble HS! But what happens to Alice when Azathoth & Sheb-Teth & Cthulhu himself show up?!

Haha! Thanks, Richard! That might be the appropriate time for Alice to disappear back down the rabbit hole! ;-)

Nice light twist on the Innsmouth story - light fantasy meets brooding horror. I think a lot of the Lovecraft stuff derives its horror from being insurmountable - where nothing you or anyone can do will stop it. Therefore, the whole light, magical bullet girl works particularly well because it destroys that feeling. Nice job. Um just now realising its also a bit anime.

Not that anime isn't good, I like anime as long as it steers clear of the whole dagon/alice tentacle rape scenario. That's a whole different area.

Great to get your thoughts, Jonathan; thank you for commenting. :-)
I'm a HPL purist and I usually dislike anything that makes light of the Cthulhu Mythos, so I guess this drabble shows me up as a bit of a hypocrite. It was fun to write though and I wanted to compose something that combined my fascination with Lovecraft and Lewis Carroll. I have written about Alice before in a Victorian Steampunk-esque environment but not here. Perhaps down the line I'll recalibrate said writings into drabbles.

Ha, ha! I guess Alice doesn't live there anymore. "Stiletto heeled Mary Janes" put me on my guard.

@Chloe - glad you got something out of it. Thanks for reading.
@Michael - haha! You should *always* be on guard if stiletto heeled Mary Janes are in the vicinity! ;-)
