Phecda and Alioth - the possible cause of an almighty blood bath.
And so began the end. I moved into the spare room which became my cocoon where I shielded myself from the heavy, impenetrable silences and the spitting, bitter words that burned into our weary hearts like a crushing, suffocating weight. And then the bombshell. The terrible, inevitable finale.
Did you know that The Plough actually includes an eighth star? Alkaid is an independent star which moves in its own direction.
The dog and I packed up our things and moved back to the forest, with its clear, unpolluted skies.

This is a fabulous series, Ginette. Not only is it beautifully written, but the narrative takes the reader into the narrator’s heart and soul. The way you have used the Plough as a kind of template for a powerful story so many can identify with is masterly. The Eighth star is inspired. Does it exist in reality? The growing sadness after the genesis of a relationship is very powerful. Outstanding work!

Forgot to say... wonderful ending

Thank you so much, Neville. Yes, according to the research I undertook for this story, the Eighth star does exist and it was perfect for how I wanted to end the story. Almost everything I write is autobiographical and, luckily, this story ended with me staying rather than going back to the forest! But, I do miss the forest and the sea - my spiritual home!

... when I say autobiographical I mean semi-autobiographical!
