A Hero - a man determined to do all he could

Between the acrid smell and smoke of the large guns you could just make out the English sailor alone manning a Vickers machine gun.

Again another enemy aircraft strafed the ship and again Bakely ranged his Vickers at the plane. A second plane strafed the ship and Bakely recieved two bullet wounds while he gallantly fired rounds at the aircraft that started to smoke.

Bakely quickly tore away at his uniform and bandaged the most serious bleeding wound then swung around and again tried to range his Vickers at another plane without noticing the water was up to his knees.
