My wife was lying in our bed, her curtain of glossy black hair fanning across the pillow. Her alabaster skin seemed to emit a soft glow in the gloom, her expression a blank canvas for sleepy dreams. She was unbelievably beautiful, like a goddess of love.
But how could this be? How was it possible? Was it a dream, or had I gone mad from grief?
As I watched, transfixed, a cold wind snatched at her hair. Her flesh crumbled into dust, her shrivelled organs disintegrating into nothingness. And her eyelids fluttered open to reveal the darkness of death beyond.
