Interesting jobs #10

by

Forward and down again, Phill and I now the only ones on the train. We reach the next station stop. The line itself goes on ahead and down again.

“This is us.” Phill says.

We climb out. Ahead there is a tunnel and at the far side a conveyor belt. I can see coal on it as it moves from my left to right.

“They are a happy bunch on this level. Just four of them. They have formed a Barber’s Shop Quartet. You’ll probably hear them.” Phill says as we walk over, down a little slope under the conveyor.

I find it quite frustrating having only 100 words for each episode.

I guess it must be, but I like reading it in snippets. I keep wondering what, if anything dramatic, might happen next.🤔

Not a lot, I am trying to describe what it is/was like down a coal mine. I do have this first sweat-gland experience. And there was the singers and … well, read on …on to what it was like coming back up (which, of course, I did, otherwise how did this drabble materialise? This was all in the early 1960’s

You get used to it if you write a lot of series' here. I can't imagine writing in any other way now.
