In the long jungle of garden we stood. Overhead a bat daydreamed into a dragon awakened a lucid memory of Josh having once owned a snake which believed it could fly, and almost did. I took the plunge 'Did you once own a snake who attempted flight or something?' 'Oh you're thinking of Clement the Adder. Named after Clement Ader who managed a few moments of flight in his steam aircraft. I probably talked about him and you thought I meant his namesake because you only half listen to anything I say . Forgive me. Just Accept this explanation, please.

One Clement existed. The other didn't.

I stopped myself from Googling it to see which one was real. I think I've got it, but then again, who knows? Nice one, Jamie.

Thank Christopher. Apparently someone called Clement Ader really did build a steam powered aircraft but it didn't stay up long enough to be useful.

Thanks again, Jamie. You have once again taught me something, and prompted me to discover more... all before breakfast! Old Clem was apparently referred to as the Father of Aviation... and the word ‘avion’ resulted from his work. He was also a mean cyclist. (You’ve guessed, I ader look on Wikipedia!)

Thanks Neville. Didn't see all that in the entry on him in the Wordsworth Dictionary Of Biography!
