How do the hoverfllies in the hospital grounds see the mantids, molluscs , Ivy Bees and arthropods? The Latin name for one kind, Eristalis Tennax, might sound vaguely sinister. Nothing nebulous about the urgency of an Ivy Bee being attacked by one, which must perceive the Hymenopteran as a threat. Well, Jamie, this provides me plenty of homework to do. Sorry to drone on but if I’m to have any chance in my exam, I must fly.

It is really interesting. I’m learning! Discovering the Comma and the Elephant Hawk Moth Caterpillar in our garden has awakened my interest in all kinds of crawling and winged creatures. (I do draw the line at slugs though if only for the devastation they wreak on our hostas!)

Sorry, I'm high on paracetamol. I read it twice to make sure it isn't a news piece. Good one, Jamie!!

;-)Thanks Verity. Can see how the Hospital reference might give it the look of a news piece at first glance. Nothing to be anxious about in the creepy crawlies in the grounds of my work place I hope! ))))

Bugs, ugh!! I'd rather be anxious about those hideous morgue myths! ;-)
