The strange lightning that hit Rod knocked him out for several hours. When he came to, on the floor of the lab, he just wanted to get home and go to sleep. Too weak to walk, he merely stood, looking at a computer screen, wishing that he could enter it and end up home.
Instantly, a bizarre feeling came over him. He began to lose his senses, becoming particulate, electric. His consciousness whooshed through the Internet. Dizzied and confused, he emerged, right in front of his machine.
He was home, physically.
In every other way, he’d never be home again.
