Asleep, she breathes softly. All four paws sticking straight up. How could that be comfortable? Her pink tummy is exposed; she always was a trusting one.
A big stretch. Mouth open in a half yawn, she looks at me, her eyes cloudy with sleep.
I can't help but want to disturb her. To reach my hands beneath her and scoop her tired body onto my lap. Limp, peaceful, trusting. A big sigh. She flicks the tip of her tongue across her lips, swallows. Wiggles her nose into the crook of my elbow.
There, she resumes her interrupted dreams.

Lovely. Makes me want a dog again. But, alas, too many allergies.

It is lovely, firefly. But oh, it’s a dog! I thought it was like one of those restless nights when I’m in and out of dreams and I too want to disturb her, but the her is Mrs H and I would never describe her as a dog (no offence intended to dogs of course).

Thanks Christopher! Dogs really do bring so much joy. Have you looked into hypoallergenic breeds? I know there are some fluffy ones out there - not just the naked ones! xD

Thanks Neville! Hahaha she is no Mrs H, but a trusted companion none the less. Perhaps, I will write about my Mr N one of these days!

Thanks, Firefly. But I have enough trouble taking care of myself these days!

Don't have a Dog , firefly, but reading this evoked memories of happy times dogsitting.

Aw I'm glad, Jamie. I'm sure my little one will inspire a few more drabbles ^^
