Its an odd thing to miss, buying stationery. But its true. I used to visit stationery shops all the time. I used to love browsing through rows of colourful pens, and patterned notebooks, nose buried in that scent of parchment and possibility.
My visits dwindled, as I started losing my sight. For printed text has been shrinking ever since, a battle I am slowly losing. My writing has turned digital, more accessible, and easier.
But on writing retreats friends talk of buying notebooks, and that old ache returns, as I realise I miss that old love, of buying stationery .

It's a shame how many things people take for granted in their everyday lives.
