A powerful gale hit the area.
Although he was used to almost any kind of weather, he threw himself into finding safe shelter.

He braced himself against the raging wind and inched forward, keeping his face down, do avoid the impact of of sand and small pebbles.

Half-blind he finally crested a hill and found the muzzle of a black tunnel.
One frantic jump - and he slid into the darkness.

A soothing slumber enwrapped the exhausted little creature.
The hedgehog didn't wake up, when a man climbed the hill

and fired the matutinal signal shot out of the cannon.

Didn't suspect a cannon. Good twist.

    I agree (poor thing).
But isn't this treacherous "security" the same, our governments want us to believe in, while disentitling us all of the most basic personal rights?

    Poor us, too, right?
