Were there such things as Ghosts I might, on a late afternoon stroll, spot a silvery Samuel Johnson after whom a certain Turkey Oak lined avenue is named, and perhaps Dr Johnson would be on his way to acquire oysters ardently hoped for by Hodge, reportedly the favourite feline of the formidable furnisher of our heritage with the first English dictionary. (He was reportedly reluctant to ask his servants to perform what they may have taken to be a trivial errand.) Did I just hear one of their ghosts say 'Actually we would have happily got Hodge his treat.' ?

Nice. Made me think of Robbie Coltrane doing a turn as Samuel Johnson on Blackadder. And I loved the alliteration of "favourite feline of the formidable furnisher."

Ffff alliteration just what the Doctor ordered. But that Hodge sounds like one perpetually pampered puss, perhaps?
(Thinks...🤔... My first job in advertising was in the former Black Cat cigarette factory at Mornington Crescent... now I wonder if Hodge’s harrowing howls were heard in those hallowed hallways? Maybe they’d made mysterious moggies there.)

Suspect he was pampered Neville yes ;-) . Apparently Samuel Johnson used to fetch his oyster treat instead of getting his servants to do it in case it annoyed them. there's a statue of Hodge who probably never smoked,, in London ;-)
