Mac spoke too soon. A guard rounded the corner and sheer instinct kicked in. With one Swift motion he dove in the nearest planter, contemporaneously draping his cape over him.

The guard walked by without a second thought to his presence, whistling to Yankee Doodle.

That was too close. I had better hone my timing henceforth with the guards' rounds.

As soon as he was alone again, Mac removed the cape, which was made to look like fake soil in order to blend in, he swiftly slipped out and made his way toward the West wing.

Mac landed in a roll on the carpeted museum floor underneath the large abstract piece. Looking around to make sure the guards didn't see him, he continued on in his mission.

He recalled the map in his head, then crept along the wall toward the East Wing where they kept the most valuable items, not the least of which, The Honduran Emerald.

Mac was extremely meticulous in his planning. The influence of his mentor had embedded itself into instinct. With determination and scrupulous planning he knew he would be holding that Emerald before the night's end.

Mac made it halfway down to the museum floor when he realized he couldn't make it any further without tripping an alarm. Lazers formed an intricate web of security directly under the glass roof above from which he propelled. He retrieved the grappling hook from his belt and flung it across the room, catching on a large piece of abstract art. Mac unclipped from his propelling rope, swinging on the new rope to the side.

His methods were all so new. He was used to more direct, flagrant schemes, but this one required a certain finesse.

Once the circle of glass shimmied loose from the pane, Mac pulled the suctioned handle, effectively creating a large enough hole to squeeze through. He was aware of the security grid that would alert the guards, should he pass through their path, so he had to act swiftly. Precisely.

Once he had his rig set up to propel him down, he clipped himself in and slipped through the hole. He made sure to hold on to the slack of the cable lest it fall to the ground passing through a security lazer, and ruining his plans.

The guard don't see Mac. He let out his breath slowly, so as not to make too much noise. He crawled to his feet again and continued his ascent to the roof. Once there, he wound up his grappling rope and fastened it to his belt.

"Next task, enter through top window." He knew he was going to have to lazer cut his way through the thick protective glass. He had dinner it before, and was aware of the machinations of the lazer utility. He knelt down beside the window and suctioned a handle to it.

The Emerald Thief

It seems easy enough, thought Mac. Acquire the Honduran Emerald and flee to safety. He stepped a few paces away from the wall, from which he hid against, and pulled out his grapple hook. He spun it quickly and released it toward the roof. It hooked succesfully to the roof's coping.

Mac made his way up the wall, walking as if it were the floor, when a guard turned the corner. He let his feet fall, but held onto the rope and laid flat against the wall. The guard's flashlight danced back and forth, illuminating surrounding topiaries.
