The Backward Gypsy #4

"Why are you doing this to me?" I asked with tears in my eyes.

A grin spread across Madam Viitor's face.

"I'm not. You are."

I awoke in a cold sweat. It was just a dream. I got out of my lonely bed and went to the bathroom, splashing water in my face and then looking in the mirror.

I realized something. Madam Viitor wasn't the fortune teller, I was; destined to relive my former life over and over again in what was left of my dreams.

And I had another prediction: I would see Madam Viitor again...and again...and again...

"Uh...uh...This has never happened to me before. Uh, I see a voman and a man kissing at the Eiffel Tower vith fireworks in the sky," she said in a panic.

"That was our honeymoon!" I screamed. "You're a fraud," I yelled before adding, "but you can't be a fraud because you're seeing actual events that you weren't present for. How is that possible?"

"Uh... I see a Chreesmas tree with a cute leetle puppy underneath vith a bow."

"That was what I got her for our first Christmas together. She took the dog with her. Don't even have that anymore."

"Uhh....," Madam Viitor stuttered, "I see you in an office. You're signing some papers. There is a blonde voman there, also signing papers."

"That's my wife, well, ex-wife. We just divorced like two days ago," I said with regret.

"Ahh, vell, good things are in your future. I see you on the beach vith a blonde being married by a minister dressed like Elvis in Blue Havaii."

"That's my ex-wife! That was 10 years ago! Look, I'm trying to forget all of that. I wanna know what the future holds. Why are you reminding me of the past?"

"Ah, come een, come een! I am Madam Viitor. Velcome!"

I stepped up into the ramshackle wooden wagon. Madam Viitor sat at a table with a crystal ball on top of it, stroking it like a summertime lover.

I paid her the money and sat at the table opposite her.

"Now, you vant to see your future? Let us gaze into the mystic crystal ball."

She peered into the glass.

"I see a man in a blue car driving up to a vooden vagon. He gets out and drops his sunglasses."

"That was me. That happened like two minutes ago."
