We were all having fun. The theme of the party was serious; its nature definitely not! Bottles galore of outstanding wine as social lubricant, spirits were high, although not on tap.
UK's EU referendum was the hook for the Neverendum Party, masking a significant birthday for me. With my party leader's speech delivered and heckled, adapted 'Hokey Cokey' sung loud enough to wake the dead, time for the secret ballot.
The surprise result: Stay In 23; Get Out 3; Shake it all about 4.
Disgruntled Mike then delivered a solemn warning for us, our kids and grandkids. We'd been cursed!

Neverendum Party #1
42 for a sit down lunch chez nous. Food, booze and fun with a UK/EU Referendum theme. I organised an EU quiz, keynote speech, singsong and secret in/out ballot.
Huge fun, riotous behaviour but nonetheless, a couple of dramas. Two 'delegates' on opposing sides had a war of words (adding to party spirit!). It was so heated, we turned off the radiators.
The second involved a woman choking on her goulash. With 70% of partygoers unaware, the paramedics stretchered her out for a trip to hospital.
When organising parties for oldies, always leave space on the drive for an ambulance...
