Grief #1

The plane flies in, bringing in it only one passenger that will end up mattering to me and my life. He gets off, the black slate board that represents our relationship has been briskly swept clean, but the large, roughly patched crack running along its length makes it very noticeable that things are uncomfortable. There is another fissure in my black slate. My heart is that slate though. Those scars cannot be patched so easily, yet I am still ready to welcome him back. I didn't realize I needed him so badly. The tears start rolling. They come in torrents.
