🎶Baby I know🎶

Come the Dawn #3 of 3

‘Forever’ is indeed a very long time… and it takes a long time to forgive and forget the lumps and bumps along the way – the lies, the cheating, the crying, the beating. Even for the ‘golden couple’.

They couldn’t last much longer together, and they’d not even reached the year of the itch. And when the world was at peace on a Midsummer’s dawn, a duel was in order. Knives at dawn - the kitchen variety, raised in anger, used in earnest... and the first cut was the deepest. Baby I know!

In both cases.

According to the County Coroner.

Forever

Come the Dawn #2 of 3

On the surface, the lives of Maureen and husband Alan might have seemed perfect.

Indeed, they had often been described as the “golden couple“. But anyone who was really in the know would realise that the gold, the gold that seemed to enclose the couple, was only Fool’s Gold and the depth of that gold, whether real or foolish, was not even skin deep, but merely microns.

The marriage was apparently perfect. It was clear from the moment they met that they would be together forever. And five years on, so they were. But forever really is a long time…

Morning has broken

Come the Dawn #1 of 3

It was a perfect Midsummer’s dawn, and for a moment, for a last heart-aching moment, the world was at peace.
Or so it seemed.

Nature has its way of presenting itself and its host, the Earth, in a variety of ways. But if one could scratch under the surface of the peace of a perfect dawn, at Midsummer or indeed any other time of the year, one might find that that perfection might be miles, kilometres, or merely inches deep. One might… but might also find and that underneath that perfect crusty shell there boiled a cauldron of imperfection…
