For years, this was the place I wanted to leave.
Growing up near the seaside, the quiet life - it's most people's idea of bliss.
But as a surly teenager, the place seemed out of the way, the backwoods.
I'd always imagined myself as a city boy; preferring the Big Smoke to the Big Nothing.
So when I moved to London it was quite the culture shock.
The people. The smog. The crime. City life was not what I expected, nor enjoyed. Perhaps I just couldn't adjust to it.
For years, Teignmouth was the place I wanted to go back to.
