'Mum, can Shaun come round after school?'
'Sure love, would he like to stay for dinner?'
'I don't know if he'd like that'
'Nonsense...he's always welcome, and there's nothing to be scared of'
'But...we're different to everyone else.'
Mum tutted and said not to be silly. I called Shaun back and told him it was fine to come over, that he could stay for dinner. He accepted. I don't think he really understood what I meant by this.
