They can still remember the sound of guns firing at their heads. Explosions sounding in the distance, and right next to them. Of people screaming in agony from their wounds.

They can still remember the sight of craters being created instantly. People falling when they pulled their triggers, and their friends falling when the enemy pulled theirs. The light in their eyes swallowed up by the black.

Some of them had died from the guns. Some of them had died from the explosions. But more of them die from the sounds and sights, even if their bodies continue to live.

    Thank you! To be honest, I don't even know where this one came from. It's not as though this is a topic I think about very often, but this suddenly popped into my head when I was trying to think of a drabble to write.
