The beating of the hot sun lay at her back. She had no idea how long she had been lost in the desert. The only thing she knew is that it was almost all over. Dehydration had been weakening her for days, and by now it was too much for her to even stand anymore. So she just lay down in the sand that felt like coarse lava on her skin, let what little could survive out here crawl across her without a fight, tried not to think of how her family would miss her. And she waited to die.
