Katie was playing with her brother, Tom. In jest, she jabbed Tom's stomach. He cried and his mother came rushing into the room when she heard him wailing. Seeing Tom's tear streaked face, she was puzzled and demanded for an explanation. Tom replied that he was joking with Katie. His mother became angry and smacked his face. Katie felt guilty for causing her brother to be punished. She explained to her mother that she was the one who poked Tom, which caused him to cry. Her mother pat her head and mischievously said, "Don't worry, I knew it all along.".
