How could you trick me? I know who you are, what you look like...
Did they mask you as MalasaDas in Hawaii?
What if the Netherlands never gave you away, Oliebol?
Croatians cloak you as FritUle,
Will Greek give away, Loukoumades?
Don't you think they will find out you're FilHós planted in Portugal?
Could Italians camouflage you as CastagNole?
Suppose Spaniards bury you as BUñuelos,
Could you take cover as Timbits in Canada??
Whatever you are and wherever you stay, you will remain as Doughnut Holes as long as you deliver the same taste or even better in my door!

Dreadful Doughnuts Naughty but nice! ;-)

Thanks, Neville! The lack of the subject prompted this one! ;-)
Well, I was just aware they are called Puff Puffs in Nigeria. And Greeks, Italians, French Beignets and Canadians have their own too. The rest was sheer google discovery!
I was tempted to learn what these holes are called in other countries as the ingredients are basic and available almost everywhere. The Middle East and Asia have their own too, but with added syrup like the Italian Struffoli !!

Thanks, Jamie tried a bit of your alliterative theme!

And Neville, Thank you! I borrowed your anchovies acronym idea for this Doughnut. Although, couldn't describe this so I just tweaked with what I could!

Hadn’t spotted that, Verity! But now I see.... Nice one! Well played. In our house, my wife prefers the red jam filling whilst it’s custard for me! But our kind of doughnuts aren’t usually the ring variety, but tennis ball shape, filled.
Through your research which ignited my interest and my own subsequent doughnut Bing-eing (sorry Google!), I know a lot more now although it hasn’t earned me any more dough.

Gosh, in my interest in these new foreign words, I hadn’t spotted your alliterative artistry! Well played, ma’am!

Doughnut Holes are tennis ball-shaped, and in many countries, they do have fillings of jam, but my sweet tooth won't mind custard mixed with it!!
Also, if fillings are a bit frustrating, you could do a mix of icing sugar and cinnamon to dust over. That tastes heavenly too!!
Sorry, I sound excited! I'm craving some now!

Go on... spoil yourself! We do have the ones with the holes in the middle (like lifebuoys) but most of ours are filled spheres of deliciousness!

Hehe! Whatever be the shape and fillings, I'll gorge !!
You've just tempted me to write more on food...
Neville Hunt over 2 years ago
Yes, please do. I might write something myself on my forthcoming steak, ale and mushroom pie. Having assembled the ingredients yesterday, today’s the day (I wonder if 100 words will be enough to describe both anticipation and action.🤔)
