The clouds started turning dark grey, expectant. Then a lightning struck, illuminating the sky, the thunder roaring and raging. The endless rains would come…

I knew, it was time…

They would come in troops, like hound dogs, blood thirsty for me…
I wiped the swept off my brow, juggled my things then entered the building, glaring at the aperture waiting for the upcoming horror…

The room was empty, I stepped inside…

Then, I heard a ring...

I knew, it was time….

Five, four (footsteps hurried down the hall), three, two (voices getting near), one…

They assembled, greeting, “Good Morning Teacher!”

You had me confused until the end also, Verity. Great drabble... love the build up and the revelation. I’d been getting scared! (But kids are really scary! Glad I was never a schoolteacher!)
