Joan Eckersley found her workplace terrifying, workload was increasing and with it her fear of technology. Now paranoid, she convinced herself she was next for redundancy due to lack of computer skill.
She hated her mobile but decided to come to grips with it; the task to email the Dalai Lama from computer to phone.
Putting heart and soul into the job, jabbing buttons and sweating profusely, a bleep signalled action from the phone. In despair and now convinced she was about to be hacked she glimpsed the unrecognised number and deleted herself.
