The apricot sun cascaded warm light onto the rhododendron. Vivid yellow caught her eye. She remembered her exasperation when he placed the gaudy bush against the garden wall but he was right, it made a beautiful display. “So green fingered” she thought, tenderly planting the summer bulbs into freshly dug earth. Lurid gladioli, not the flowers of her choosing but his last decision so a fitting tribute. She promised to keep the garish blooms, that way he would be part of the garden forever. Hopefully they would flourish in soil fertilized by his gardener's hands and other dismembered body parts.
