I watch the guy digging. He's labouring away at the hole with enthusiasm.
God only knows what he's after.
I can't imagine anything that would require such an excavation.
More effort. Determination on his face. Muscles contorting with the strain.
Tears forming in his intensely focused eyes.
Any deeper and this could warrant a lift shaft. I tell myself. I imagine there to have been shallower coal faces.
As enthralling as this spectacle is I know I really don't care to know what he will do with the results of his labour.
I turn away from him and his nostril.

Love it, Shaun! It takes me back to one of my own drabbles, 'Don't!'

It's full title was 'Don't!! (A cautionary tale. Not for the squeamish)

It won Drabble of the Week a while back and I was very chuffed! Not bad for a Norfolk boy, I thought.

Just read it, Neville. The imagery was off the scale. So good.

Thanks, Shaun. I put in the disclaimer as I thought it might have offended the more sensitive souls though, but who nose? Drabblin'...fun innit?
