Wasteland Tales #58

by

Silent, invisible, Witch inches her way through the wrecked machines. 2 minutes 45 seconds. She can see Lizard’s progress as he hacks away at the ancient implant. It’s going well, with a safety margin of more than a minute before the force field gives way.
Should be comforting.
She watches, fascinated, as the Fury effortlessly hoists one of the ancient wrecks in its tendrils, and, child’s mouth stretching impossibly wide, swallows it whole.
Nothing ever comes that easily.
The Fury roars. The gaping hole in its torso seals itself shut.
And behind her eyes, the hack stops dead.
Transmission lost.

Good stuff, Jonathan, good stuff! You've almost caught up with my Pearl & Quasit. As another writer of multiple complex drabbles, I salute you, sir! Cheers!

Thanks a lot Richard, probably a few more to come before the series ends, hopefully good luck for both of us.

I admire you both. It is a feat beyond me to carry characters and plot such a distance with creativity and much suspense!

Thanks DM - to be honest I find it's really helping to write a long story in drabble segments, keeps the plot moving and the tension high. This is probably the longest I've gotten into a long story, because I get frustrated with the lack of progress I make by trying to make everything perfect. With Wasteland Tales, and the Star Child stuff I did earlier, the story's already there, more or less, I only need to pick the high spots to write about. Hopefully more to come soon.
