Staring down the sight of the rifle, I watch as he speaks. Too far away to hear the words, I read his lips, counting the lies.
“Unity.” “Reform.” The buzz words hang thick around his head like a cloud of carrion flies. He won't follow through. I know him better than he knows himself.
Unworthy.
The rifle jumps in my hand. Half a mile away, a hole forms between his eyes.
We need leaders, strong leaders, good leaders. Worthy leaders. But so few of them are.
Who am I to judge?
Who are you?
You've as much power as I.

Brilliant drabble, love the line 'The buzz words hang thick around his head like a cloud of carrion flies', it says so much about what's going on. Really powerful stuff

Thank you very much, I'm pleased with the simile myself - the "buzz" adds to the imagery nicely I think. Glad you enjoyed it.
