Things Happen

Sometimes, things just happen.

My girlfriend picked up a glass, and it just shattered in her hand. Exploded in her face. Shredded most of it. Blinded one eye, sliced her nose open. Some of it even wound up in her neck. Severed both vocal chords. Missed the jugular.

My best friend got behind the wheel of his car, keyed the ignition, and boom. Electrical fire in the engine. Caught fire in an instant. The doors locked when the fire started. By the time they got him out, he was cooked.

Sometimes, things just happen.
