I help Emma make a pizza out of Playdough. She makes it square. It looks cool, orange topped green, and I say so. She seems pleased.
Kate comes to help, and manages to order enough pseudo food to feed her family forever. Emma keeps up, valiantly, until we run out of dough.
Kate busies herself making money to pay, torn paper covered with scribbles. She looks at Emma’s carefully written receipt, says “we’ll have to put this on the card,” and inserts her pretend card in the pretend card reader. “Can I take this home?”
New year’s resolution: Get kids.
