The steam made everything seem hazy, though everything's been hazy since the news this morning.
The bath was finally ready, and I slowly immerse myself in it. The hot water feels so soothing; like a cocoon separating me from the world outside.
I take a deep breath, hold my nose, and duck under completely. Then I count to see how long I can stay under without coming up for air.
Ten, eleven, twelve… Perhaps if I stay under long enough, I could wash away the day’s events, go back to how things were... before I was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
