Beneath her, the waves crashed against the craggy coastline of the island. Behind her, a thin mist was slowly rising from the ground. Clinging to the rabbit mown grass and clover.

The smell of the ground, mixed with the ocean was intoxicating. She sat on her convenient rock, looking out across the sea to the horizon. Out there, at the edge of the world, the sun, brilliant and alive, sank slowly beneath the waves.

She was waiting for that final moment; as the sun disappeared behind the noisy Earth.

And there it was.

A single flash of brilliant emerald light.

I can actually smell this, it's so evocative. I'd love to see that emerald flash, but it's very rare isn't it? Lovely drabble (again).

I've managed to see it once while in Blackpool of all places :)
