I dreamed.

The building alarm was screaming. The breach alarm. Around me people scrabbled for the stairs down. I ran too, but had the presence of mind to grab a vacuum packed emergency hazard suit. That made me the last to leave, last to run.

As I reached the foyer of the cold-war-esque building I realised that I wasn't going to make it. And so I tore at the suit packaging, desperate to free it for some protection. However limited...

I stumbled outside as a diseased, yellow-green, light filled the air and people started screeching and bubbling.

I love the description of the "cold war-esque building."

    Really great stuff.

Had bad dreams last night/very early this morning. The building was very old-school Russian in its design. Hence, "cold-war-esque" Hopefully it conveyed the right feeling. Up at five thirty a.m. with that little gem floating around my head.

Yeah, it really set the scene. That just jumped out at me.

I'll probably have the same dream myself tonight now, Jeff. I stayed in a cold-war-esque building in Russia once or twice. The walls were concrete, the water ran brown.

Share and enjoy Neville 😁 Share and enjoy. Hopefully you won't get the few hours of feeling a lingering horror afterwards. I blamed the fish pie we had for evening meal that night, but my wife said to blame the cheese topping. At least it wasn't a zombie nightmare 😅

Ah! Cheese topping, that could be it - it's certainly a wives tale. Fish pie, eh? Luvvit! Any leftovers?😀

Yes. But I'm a little reticent to finish it off. It's lurking in the fridge, daring me

Maybe best not to risk it! I might have to make one myself then!

I love the building's description, too, and the way it quietly sets the scene for the second part of the drabble.
