We called it the dark wave.
Gravity waves had been theorised for a long time. Then we were able to detect them. Stretching and compressing space-time, the waves lapped against our suns own gravity well.
We didn't know how protected by the sun we were, until the dark wave washed across half of the world.
Just like at sea, it was a freak wave. Two, dark, black holes collided at speed beneath our galaxy. We never saw them until afterwards. A brilliant flash in the southern skies.
The wave tore the world in half. Killing billions in an instant.
