Choice of Direction

Perseverancios, the great hero, strode toward the gigantic 'Gate of Doom', the passageway into the divine realms.
Many an adventure and an uncounted number of perilous quests had he encountered and had solved them all.

Finally the old soothsayer Poniros Prophitis had sent him hither, where - as he had reaffirmed repeatedly - his wit would be tested.

As the giant gate opened, a monster appeared beside the opening.
"Thou shall not take any step forward from here!", it growled.

The hero raised a leg, to step back.

"Thou shall not step back!"

Perseverancios smiled, turned and slid through the door
- sideways.
