Buckets of flowers wait in rows outside the broken house. The wooden floors
will be cleared of trash and the gaps planted with grape hyacinths. The
chairs with no seats: padded with moss and poppy heads, succulents and
pale anemones. The peeling walls rain yellow tulips and from broken window panes pour pink lilies. Pansies bloom in the porcelain sink cracked and devoid of fixtures. Fronds of ferns reach from the bookshelf where the top
row of books survives, useless, leaves stuck together, solid, The hole in the roof is an oculus. There are no bars left on the door.
