It had been life times since she had been outside. She blinked, a
nocturnal creature swept from a dark corner, her skin pale and translucent like a minnow scooped from a shallow pool. She hunched in the wheelchair
at the edge of the parking lot while attendants evacuated the other residents,
lining them in long rows.
Smoke billowed some where else. She longed for the steady hum of the fan
in her room and cocooning music. This light was too bright. These noises too
loud. A ladybug landed on her wrist and her body heaved unable to expel the scream.

What wonderful portraits you paint using reality as the canvas. Well done.

Thank you both! (Still wondering if something else should land on her wrist...)

I think the ladybug is perfect. Nice drabble.
